Messaging terms

Effective date: September 10, 2026

Phone signup notice updated September 16, 2026.

Steele Labs LLC sends text messages, and this page is the whole agreement about them: what you get, how often, what it costs, and how to make it stop.

Quick reference

  • Our number: +1 (650) 485-0953
  • Opt in: choose Enable Messages with your phone number, then verify your number. You can also text START
  • Opt out: reply STOP at any time
  • Get help: reply HELP or email support@steelelabs.co

What you are agreeing to

To turn on messaging, the phone setup page asks you to choose:

Enable Messages

Steele uses iMessage where available. Messages can also arrive by SMS. These are the full messaging terms for that choice:

I agree to receive automated text messages from Steele Labs LLC about my Steele account and my child's schoolwork, including what is due, late, or done, and related reminders. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

Choose email instead if you do not want phone messages. You can use Steele, and pay for Steele, without turning on phone messages. We record phone messaging permission after you verify the number you entered.

What we send

If you are a parent, the messages are about your own account and your child's schoolwork:

  • What is due, what is late, and what is done
  • Reminders and schedule changes you asked to hear about
  • Account messages: sign-in codes, security notices, and billing confirmations
  • Replies to messages you send us

If you text Steele directly rather than signing up on the site, sending that first message is the opt-in, and the replies you get are the conversation you started.

Your first message

The first text you get after enabling Messages is your sign-in code, because that is the next thing you asked for. There is no separate "you are subscribed" message before it. Every text Steele sends carries the same way out, so if one reaches you and you never gave us your number, reply STOP and email support@steelelabs.co.

Frequency and cost

Message frequency varies. Most of what Steele sends is triggered by something real: an assignment going late, a reminder you set, a code you asked for. We do not promise a fixed number per day or per month.

Steele does not charge for messages. Message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.

Opting out

Reply STOP to any message from Steele and we stop. You get one confirmation and then nothing further, except where the law requires us to contact you. STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT and OPT OUT all work.

If you change your mind, reply START to turn messages back on.

What we will not do

  • Send you a schoolwork alert, a reminder, or anything else you did not ask for before your consent is recorded. Asking for a sign-in code gets you that code, because you just asked for it, and nothing else follows from it.
  • Pre-check the consent box, or hide it inside another agreement.
  • Send you promotional messages that have nothing to do with your own account or your child's schoolwork. That is a separate stream and it needs separate consent, which we do not currently ask for.
  • Sell your phone number.

Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed.
