Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Steele (the "Service"), including our website and any text messaging (SMS/MMS) or voice experiences that may be offered from time to time. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Operator & Contact

The Service is operated by Steele ("we", "us", "our"). For support, email support@steelelabs.co.

2. Eligibility

Steele is built for students. You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

If you are between 13 and 17, you may create and use your own account. By using the Service, you represent that a parent or legal guardian is aware of and permits your use and has reviewed these Terms with you. A parent or legal guardian may also create and manage an account for a student, but this is optional. The Service is not directed to, and may not be used by, children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it.

3. Messaging (SMS/MMS) Opt-In Policy

This section describes how we obtain consent to send text messages, what you can expect, and how to opt out. It is intended to comply with carrier and messaging provider requirements.

3.1 Program description

If you opt in, Steele may send you SMS/MMS messages related to:

  • Account access and verification (one-time passcodes, login links, security alerts)
  • Service notifications and reminders you request
  • Replies to messages you initiate
  • Important updates about your account or the Service

3.2 How you opt in (consent methods)

You may opt in to receive messages from Steele using one or more of the following methods ("Opt-In"). We only send automated text messages after we receive your consent.

  • Website/QR opt-in:You scan a QR code or click a "Text" button on our website that opens your device's messaging app with our number prefilled. Sending the first message constitutes opt-in for replies and related service messages.
  • Direct message initiation: You text our published number first. By initiating the conversation, you consent to receive replies and related service messages.
  • Explicit keyword opt-in: Where applicable, you text a keyword such as START, YES, or another opt-in keyword we specify.
  • Account verification: You enter your phone number on the Service and complete a verification step (for example, entering a one-time code). This confirms you control the number and consent to receive verification and account-related messages.

No purchase required. Message delivery is subject to carrier availability.

3.3 What information we disclose at opt-in

At the point of opt-in (or in the first message exchange), we aim to disclose:

  • That you are agreeing to receive text messages from Steele
  • The general purpose/category of messages (verification, service updates, replies)
  • That message and data rates may apply
  • How to get help (reply HELP)
  • How to opt out (reply STOP)

3.4 Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on your usage and settings. Some messages may be triggered by your actions (for example, requesting help, sending a task, or signing in). We do not guarantee a specific number of messages per day or month.

3.5 Costs

Message and data rates may apply. Steele does not charge for messages, but your mobile carrier may.

3.6 Opt-out instructions

You can opt out of SMS/MMS at any time by replying STOP to any message. After you opt out, you will receive a confirmation message and we will stop sending further messages, except where required to comply with your request or applicable law.

3.7 Help instructions

For help, reply HELP to any message or contact support@steelelabs.co.

3.8 Supported carriers & delivery

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed.

3.9 Prohibited content & acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service (including SMS) to send or request illegal content, harassment, spam, or content that violates the rights of others. We may suspend or terminate access for abusive behavior.

3.10 Privacy & data handling for messaging

We may store your phone number, your message history, and related metadata (for example, timestamps) to operate the Service, prevent abuse, and improve functionality. We do not sell your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for more.

4. Accounts & Security

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activities that occur under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us.

5. Service Availability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time.

6. Disclaimer

Steele may generate suggestions or automate tasks, but you are responsible for reviewing and approving important actions. We do not guarantee accuracy or outcomes.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date will change when we do.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without regard to conflict of law principles.
